Kennedy Tea Parties

I loved hearing this, about how Ethel Kennedy and several Kennedy sisters banded together to help John F. Kennedy get elected to the Senate. They threw neighborhood tea parties, and women would flock to these gatherings.  As RFK Jr. says in this documentary about his Mom, Ethel, "She, Aunt Pat, Aunt Eunice, Aunt Jean, and my grandmother had famous tea parties across the state, and people would invite hundreds of women from the neighborhood, and they'd come to meet the Kennedy girls."

JFK won the senate, and after the race, the Republican candidate, Henry Cabot Lodge, blamed his loss on "Those damn tea parties."

Hmmm... maybe it's time to start holding Kennedy tea parties again!
